Big Change Hits Japanese Silver Price

Closing at JPY 853.00 ($9.18) per 10 grams on Feb. 15, 2013, Japanese silver saw the biggest change at a 4.5 percent. At $30.40 per ounce, US silver fell 1.2 percent last Friday. The price of Indian silver fell 1.2 percent to INR 56,249 ($1,043) per kilogram. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese silver remained essentially flat at CNY 6,405 ($1,028) per kilogram.

Japanese gold bullion prices saw a 1.8 percent decline to JPY 4,853 ($52.20) per gram. The price of US gold bullion declined 0.5 percent to $1,634 per ounce. Indian gold bullion closed 0.4 percent lower at INR 30,063 ($557.49) per 10 grams. The price of Chinese gold bullion was unchanged at CNY 337.80 ($54.19) per gram.

The price of Japanese platinum bar changed direction with a 3.4 percent drop. After two days of improving prices, the metal finished at JPY 5,021 ($54.01) per gram. Weakening prices followed two days of improvement as the price of US platinum bar dropped 0.5 percent to $1,709 per ounce. The price of Chinese platinum bar remained essentially flat at CNY 368.50 ($59.12) per gram.

The price of Japanese palladium bar closed at JPY 2,238 ($24.07) per gram. Following a couple days of improvement, prices fell by 3.8 percent. US palladium bar ended the day at $762.00 per ounce, after the 0.5 percent drop last Friday. The price of Chinese palladium bar continues hovering around CNY 184.00 ($29.52) per gram for the fifth day in a row.
