Base Metals Roundup: LME Prices of Aluminum, Copper Decline

Current Aluminum Prices

Following two days of increases on the LME, the aluminum cash price dropped by 1.7 percent to end at $2,086 per metric ton on Feb. 19, 2013. The aluminum 3-month price changed direction with a 1.6 percent drop. After two days of improving prices, the metal finished at $2,130 per metric ton on the LME.

Chinese aluminum closed mixed yesterday. The cash price of Chinese aluminum fell 0.3 percent. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap was unchanged. The price of Chinese aluminum billet saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement.

Current Copper Prices

The 3-month price of copper saw the biggest decline of the day, dropping 1.5 percent on the LME to close at $8,111 per metric ton on Feb. 19, 2013. Also on the LME, the cash price of primary copper fell 1.5 percent to $8,075 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grades 102, 110 and 122 all gained 0.2 percent. The Japanese copper cash price continues hovering in place for the fifth day in a row.

today's metal prices - MetalMiner IndXChinese copper closed mixed. The price of Chinese copper bar moved on Tuesday. After a few changeless days, prices dropped 0.5 percent. After remaining flat for three days, the cash price of Chinese copper fell 0.5 percent yesterday as well.

Chinese copper wire finished the day down 0.3 percent. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap saw little movement.
