Big Change Hits Japanese Silver

On Feb. 20, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was Japanese silver, which saw a 6.7 percent decline to JPY 797.00 ($8.50) per 10 grams. At $29.44 per ounce, US silver fell 1.8 percent on Wednesday. Chinese silver finished the day down 0.8 percent to CNY 6,050 ($968.84) per kilogram. The price of Indian silver remained essentially flat at INR 55,949 ($1,033) per kilogram.

Japanese gold bullion ended the day at JPY 4,821 ($51.44) per gram, after the 0.7 percent drop on Wednesday. Chinese gold bullion prices saw a 0.3 percent decline to CNY 325.82 ($52.18) per gram. US gold bullion has been on the decline for 7 days and is now at $1,605 per ounce. Indian gold bullion stayed flat at around INR 29,831 ($550.63) per 10 grams.

The price of Japanese platinum bar fell 0.6 percent to JPY 5,053 ($53.92) per gram. Chinese platinum bar prices rose 0.3 percent to CNY 362.00 ($57.97) per gram. The price of US platinum bar declined 0.2 percent to $1,689 per ounce.

Chinese palladium bar gained 0.5 percent to finish at CNY 185.00 ($29.63) per gram. US palladium bar finished the day up 0.1 percent to $762.00 per ounce. The price of Japanese palladium bar showed little movement yesterday at JPY 2,240 ($23.90) per gram.
