Renewables MMI®: Silicon Falls 6.9%

Following a 6.9 percent decline to CNY 13,500 ($2,166) per metric ton, silicon finished as the week’s biggest mover on the weekly Renewables MMI®. Chinese cobalt cathodes prices were off slightly at CNY 210,000 ($33,686) per metric ton, down from CNY 215,000 ($34,435) a week ago. At CNY 425,000 ($68,059) per metric ton, the price of neodymium did not change since the previous week. Chinese steel plate remained essentially flat from the previous week at CNY 4,430 ($710.61) per metric ton.

Prices for Japanese steel plate remained constant, closing the week at JPY 80,000 ($865.96) per metric ton. Korean steel plate remained essentially flat from the previous week at KRW 1.1 million ($1,014) per metric ton. At CNY 4,430 ($710.61) per metric ton, the price of Chinese steel plate did not change since the previous week. US steel plate prices held steady from the previous week at $729.00 per short ton.

The price of US grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) fell 5.8 percent this month to $3,491 per short ton.
