Copper Cash Price Sees Small Decrease

On March 12, 2013, the copper cash price fell by 0.7 percent on the LME, landing at $7,675 per metric ton and making it the day’s biggest mover. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price fell 0.6 percent to $7,701 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little movement yesterday at $4.13 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around JPY 640,000 ($6,623) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little change in its price yesterday at $4.32 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 remained essentially flat at $4.13 per pound.

Chinese copper closed mixed yesterday. Chinese copper wire finished the day up 0.1 percent to CNY 56,725 ($9,116) per metric ton. The price of Chinese copper bar steadied at CNY 57,550 ($9,248) per metric ton following two-days of increases. Following a two-day rise, the Chinese copper cash price flattened at CNY 57,750 ($9,281). At CNY 46,850 ($7,529) per metric ton, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap was essentially unchanged.
