At CNY 57,300 ($9,224) per metric ton, Chinese copper bar moved up 1.4 percent on March 21, 2013, the day’s biggest change. The Chinese copper cash price rose 1.4 percent to CNY 57,500 ($9,256) per metric ton. Chinese copper wire prices rose 1.4 percent to CNY 56,320 ($9,066) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 46,850 ($7,542) per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 rose 1.0 percent to $4.07 per pound after a two-day drop. Following a two-day drop, the price of US copper producer grade 110 increased by 1.0 percent to $4.07 per pound. Following a 0.9 percent rise yesterday, the price of US copper producer grade 102 closed at $4.26 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around JPY 640,000 ($6,668) per metric ton.
The 3-month price of copper is back up, rising by 0.9 percent on the LME on Thursday to close at $7,604 per metric ton. The cash price of primary copper saw little movement yesterday on the LME, closing out around $7,574 per metric ton.
