Base Metals Update: China Aluminum Scrap Price Spikes, Copper Up Too

Current Aluminum Prices

The price of Chinese aluminum scrap rose 7.1 percent on March 25, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover on MetalMiner’s price index.

current aluminum prices - MetalMiner IndXThe price of Chinese aluminum billet declined 0.3 percent. The cash price of Chinese aluminum rose 0.1 percent. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row.

The Indian aluminum cash price saw a 0.8 percent decline.

On the LME, the primary aluminum cash price increased 0.2 percent to $1,905 per metric ton. The aluminum 3-month price flattened at $1,938 following two-days of declines on the LME.

Current Copper Prices

US copper producer grades saw the biggest price increases, rising 0.7 percent on March 25, 2013.

The Japanese copper cash price refuses to move, remaining essentially flat.

today's metal prices - MetalMiner IndXChinese copper prices were up for the day. Chinese bright copper scrap saw its price rise 0.7 percent. Chinese copper wire prices inched up 0.6 percent. The price of Chinese copper bar increased 0.5 percent. The cash price of Chinese copper gained 0.5 percent.

The primary copper cash price increased 0.5 percent on the LME to $7,616 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price rose 0.4 percent to $7,655 per metric ton.
