Copper Cash Price Rises 0.4%

The copper cash price saw a 0.4 percent increase on March 27, 2013, reaching $7,630 per metric ton on the LME and making it the biggest mover for the day. Also on the LME, the 3-month price of copper inched up 0.3 percent to $7,660 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little movement yesterday, closing out around $4.07 per pound. The cash price of primary Japanese copper continues hovering around JPY 640,000 ($6,763) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. The price of US copper producer grade 102 showed little movement yesterday, hovering around $4.26 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 showed little movement on Wednesday at $4.07 per pound.

Chinese copper closed mixed yesterday. Chinese copper bar finished the day down 0.2 percent to CNY 56,680 ($9,124) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese copper saw a0.2 percent decline to CNY 56,880 ($9,156) per metric ton. The price of Chinese copper wire showed little movement on Wednesday at CNY 55,825 ($8,986) per metric ton. At CNY 47,460 ($7,640) per metric ton, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap was essentially unchanged.
