Cash Price of Aluminum Up After Two-Day Drop

On March 29, 2013, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of primary aluminum, which saw a 0.7 percent increase on the LME to $1,881 per metric ton. This increase comes after the price fell for the two previous days. After falling for two days, the 3-month price of aluminum rose 0.5 percent on the LME to $1,910 per metric ton. The Indian aluminum cash price saw little change in its price yesterday at INR 102.30 ($1.88) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The cash price of Chinese aluminum declined 0.3 percent to CNY 14,480 ($2,331) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price yesterday at CNY 12,445 ($2,003) per metric ton. Chinese aluminum billet held its value on Thursday at CNY 14,450 ($2,326) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,261) per metric ton.
