Chinese Coking Coal Down 4.7%

The price of Chinese coking coal closed April 1, 2013 at CNY 1,620 ($260.71) per metric ton, halting its three-day flat run with a 4.7 percent drift. Monday saw the price of Chinese slab drift down 0.5 percent to CNY 3,820 ($614.77) per metric ton after a couple of stagnant days. The price of Chinese HRC flattened at CNY 3,830 ($616.38) following two-days of declines. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India hit a high price of CNY 840.00 ($135.18) and a low price of CNY 830.00 ($133.58) per dry metric ton.

Also on the LME, the steel billet cash price saw little movement yesterday at $185.00 per metric ton. The 3-month price of steel billet held steady on Monday on the LME, remaining around $205.00 per metric ton.

The 3-month price of the US HRC futures contract saw little movement on Monday, closing out around $618.00 per short ton. The spot price of the US HRC futures contract showed little movement on Monday at $609.00 per short ton.
