The copper cash price closed up April 8, 2013 at $7,376 per metric ton, halting two days of weakening prices on the LME with a 0.5 percent shift. The 3-month price of copper is back up, rising by 0.5 percent on the LME yesterday to close at $7,412 per metric ton.
The price of US copper producer grade 122 fell 0.3 percent to $3.97 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 declined 0.3 percent to $3.97 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw a 0.2 percent decline to $4.16 per pound. The cash price of primary Japanese copper was unchanged at JPY 640,000 ($6,480) per metric ton.
Chinese copper closed mixed on Monday. Following a quiet couple of days, the price of Chinese copper bar fell 0.3 percent on Monday to CNY 55,620 ($8,981) per metric ton. Monday saw the cash price of Chinese copper drift down 0.3 percent to CNY 55,820 ($9,013) per metric ton after a couple of stagnant days. Monday saw the price of Chinese copper wire drift down 0.1 percent to CNY 54,700 ($8,832) per metric ton after three quiet days. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 47,460 ($7,663) per metric ton.
