Current Aluminum Prices
With a decline of 1.2 percent on the LME to $1,889 per metric ton on April 12, 2013, the aluminum 3-month price recorded the biggest decline of the day. The cash price of primary aluminum saw a 1.2 percent decline on the LME to $1,855 per metric ton. After falling 1.0 percent, the cash price of primary Indian aluminum reached a thirty-day low.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. Following two days of rising prices, the cash price of Chinese aluminum dropped 0.1 percent. Chinese aluminum scrap held its value last Friday. The price of Chinese aluminum billet was essentially unchanged. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat.
Current Copper Prices
US copper producer grade 110 price moved up 0.5 percent on April 12, 2013, making it the day’s biggest mover. After a 0.5 percent increase, the price of US copper producer grade 122 finished the day up as well. The price of US copper producer grade 102 increased 0.5 percent too. A 0.3 percent increase carried the cash price of primary Japanese copper higher.
The primary copper cash price weakened by 0.5 percent on the LME, settling at $7,510 per metric ton. The copper 3-month price closed at $7,545 per metric ton. Following a couple days of improvement, prices fell by 0.4 percent on the LME.
