After a 0.5 percent increase, the price of US copper producer grade 122 finished the day at $4.08 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 increased 0.5 percent to $4.27 per pound. A 0.3 percent increase carried the cash price of primary Japanese copper to JPY 782,000 ($7,849) per metric ton, and its highest price in 30 days.
Chinese copper prices were flat for the day. Chinese copper bar saw little change in its price last Friday at CNY 56,270 ($9,078) per metric ton. The Chinese copper cash price saw little movement last Friday at CNY 56,470 ($9,111) per metric ton. The price of Chinese copper wire remained steady at CNY 55,420 ($8,941) per metric ton. Chinese bright copper scrap stayed flat at around CNY 47,220 ($7,618) per metric ton.
The primary copper cash price weakened by 0.5 percent on the LME, settling at $7,510 per metric ton. The copper 3-month price closed at $7,545 per metric ton. Following a couple days of improvement, prices fell by 0.4 percent on the LME.
