Rising 5.6 percent to close at $190.00 per metric ton, the steel billet 3-month price experienced the biggest change on the LME for April 15, 2013. The steel billet cash price rose 1.2 percent yesterday on the LME, just off the thirty-day low of $162.00 per metric ton it hit on April 11.
Chinese steel prices were mixed for the day. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India stayed in its steady range. The price of Chinese slab moved on Monday, by dropping 0.5 percent. The price of Chinese HRC showed little movement on Monday.
At $614.00, the US HRC futures contract 3-month price finished the market day up 0.2 percent per short ton. The US HRC futures contract spot price held steady around $601.00 per short ton.
