Prices Hit 30-Day Low for Copper Cash Price

The day’s biggest mover was the copper cash price which dropped by 1.5 percent on Friday, April 19 to close at $6,962 per metric ton on the LME. Last Friday’s price drop of 1.3 percent carried the copper 3-month price to a thirty-day low of $6,995 per metric ton on the LME.

The Japanese copper cash price fell 0.6 percent to JPY 719,000 ($7,320) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 122 rose 0.5 percent last Friday, just off the thirty-day low of $3.86 per pound it hit on Wednesday, April 17. Just off of a thirty-day low of $3.86 per pound, the price of US copper producer grade 110 rose 0.5 percent last Friday. After hitting a thirty-day low of $4.05 per pound on Wednesday, April 17, the price of US copper producer grade 102 rose 0.5 percent last Friday.

Chinese copper closed mixed last Friday. The price of Chinese copper wire rose 0.9 percent last Friday, just off the thirty-day low of CNY 51,150 ($8,252) per metric ton it hit on Wednesday, April 17. Just off of a thirty-day low of CNY 52,100 ($8,405) per metric ton, the price of Chinese copper bar rose 0.9 percent last Friday. After hitting a thirty-day low of CNY 52,300 ($8,437) per metric ton on Wednesday, April 17, the Chinese copper cash price rose 0.9 percent last Friday. Chinese bright copper scrap stayed flat at around CNY 43,860 ($7,076) per metric ton.
