Base Metals Roundup: China Copper Prices Bounce Up, Aluminum Ticks Up Too

Chinese copper bar moved up 2.8 percent on Thursday, April 25, the day’s biggest change. The Chinese copper cash price inched up 2.8 percent also. The price of Chinese copper wire finished the market day up 2.3 percent per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap held steady.

Following a 1.6 percent rise on Thursday, the price of US copper producer grade 122 closed up. The price of US copper producer grade 110 is back up, rising by 1.6 percent yesterday. Following a two-day drop, the price of US copper producer grade 102 increased by 1.5 percent. The Japanese copper cash price saw a 0.6 percent decline.

The copper 3-month price rose 1.9 percent on the LME to $6,973 per metric ton after a two-day drop. After falling for two days, the primary copper cash price rose 1.8 percent on the LME to $6,935 per metric ton.

Current Aluminum Prices

The 3-month price of aluminum saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 0.7 percent on the LME to close at $1,901 per metric ton on Thursday, April 25. On the LME, the primary aluminum cash price increased 0.7 percent to $1,871 per metric ton. The Indian aluminum cash price inched up 0.4 percent.
