LME Nickel Spot Price Rises, Stainless Steel Doesn't Move

The nickel spot price saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 3.2 percent on the LME to close at $15,435 per metric ton on Thursday, May 9. On the LME, the 3-month price of nickel rose 3.0 percent to $15,490 per metric ton.

After a 1.2 percent increase, the Indian nickel cash price finished the day.

Chinese stainless steel closed mixed yesterday. The price of Chinese ferro-chrome saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese ferro-moly held flat.

The price of Chinese 316 stainless coil continues hovering in place for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese 304 stainless coil showed little movement on Thursday. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese 316 stainless steel scrap remained essentially flat. The price of Chinese 304 stainless steel scrap was essentially unchanged.
