With a 2.3 percent increase over the past day, the Indian aluminum cash price was the biggest mover, closing at INR 101.00 ($1.84) per kilogram on Friday, May 17. The cash price of primary aluminum is back up, rising by 0.1 percent on the LME last Friday to close at $1,802 per metric ton. The 3-month price of aluminum flattened at $1,834 per metric ton after two days of downward movement on the LME.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. Following a 0.1 percent rise last Friday, the Chinese aluminum cash price closed at CNY 14,520 ($2,360) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat at CNY 12,850 ($2,089) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet saw little movement at CNY 14,450 ($2,349) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum bar held steady at CNY 14,050 ($2,284) per metric ton.
