Novelis Touts Evercan, While Chinese Aluminum Cash Prices Rise

Will this Novelis product be worthy of a classic line from The Sandlot – in other words, will the so-called ‘evercan’ hold out “for-ev-vurr…for-ev-VURR”?

Via Recycling International: “The first phase of the Novelis evercan initiative serves as a ‘critical catalyst’ for the company to work more closely with consumer brand customers, supply chain partners and other community stakeholders to increase end-of-life recycling of used beverage containers, says Novelis’ chief sustainability officer John Gardner.”

Current Aluminum Prices

With a 2.3 percent increase over the past day, the Indian aluminum cash price was the biggest mover on Friday, May 17.

The cash price of primary aluminum is back up, rising by 0.1 percent on the LME last Friday to close at $1,802 per metric ton. The 3-month price of aluminum flattened at $1,834 per metric ton after two days of downward movement on the LME.

The price of Chinese aluminum scrap remained essentially flat. The price of Chinese aluminum billet saw little movement. The price of Chinese aluminum bar held steady.
