The Japanese copper cash price experienced the biggest price decline of the day, dropping 3.4 percent to close at JPY 770,000 ($7,618) per metric ton on Monday, May 27. The price of US copper producer grade 110 held steady around $3.96 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little price change last Friday at $4.15 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 122 held steady around $3.96 per pound.
Chinese copper prices were mixed for the day. The price of Chinese copper wire fell 0.7 percent to CNY 53,520 ($8,718) per metric ton. At CNY 54,500 ($8,878) per metric ton, Chinese copper bar fell 0.5 percent last Friday. The Chinese copper cash price fell 0.5 percent to CNY 54,700 ($8,910) per metric ton. At CNY 44,540 ($7,255) per metric ton, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap was essentially unchanged.
The primary copper cash price weakened by 0.6 percent on the LME, settling at $7,239 per metric ton. The copper 3-month price saw a 0.6 percent decline on the LME to $7,275 per metric ton.
