The aluminum cash price saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 2.0 percent on the LME to close at $1,856 per metric ton on Friday, May 31. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum inched up 1.7 percent to INR 105.95 ($1.88) per kilogram. On the LME, the 3-month price of aluminum increased 1.7 percent to $1,889 per metric ton.
Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The price of Chinese aluminum billet increased 0.7 percent to CNY 14,650 ($2,388) per metric ton. At CNY 14,730 ($2,401), the Chinese aluminum cash price finished the market day up 0.5 percent per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 13,030 ($2,124) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,291) per metric ton.
