Chinese HRC Up 2.3%

Chinese HRC saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 2.3 percent to close at CNY 3,530 ($576.10) per metric ton on Thursday, July 4. At CNY 3,580 ($584.26), the price of Chinese slab finished the market day up 0.3 percent per metric ton. The price of Chinese coking coal was unchanged at CNY 1,390 ($226.85) per metric ton. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India hit a high price of CNY 840.00 ($137.09) and a low price of CNY 830.00 ($135.46) per dry metric ton.

The cash price of steel billet remained essentially flat on the LME at $120.00 per metric ton. On the LME, the 3-month price of steel billet held steady around $150.00 per metric ton.

The US HRC futures contract 3-month price remained essentially flat at $619.00 per short ton. The spot price of the US HRC futures contract saw little movement yesterday at $632.00 per short ton.
