Chinese Copper Wire Drops 1.1% After Short Rise

Following two days of increases, the price of Chinese copper wire dropped by 1.1 percent to end at CNY 50,180 ($8,190) per metric ton on Friday, July 5. The price of Chinese copper bar declined 1.0 percent to CNY 51,150 ($8,348) per metric ton. The Chinese copper cash price declined 1.0 percent to CNY 51,350 ($8,381) per metric ton. Chinese bright copper scrap saw little change in its price last Friday at CNY 43,410 ($7,085) per metric ton.

The cash price of primary Japanese copper inched up 0.3 percent to JPY 729,000 ($7,272) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little movement last Friday, closing out around $3.84 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little price change last Friday at $4.03 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 saw little change in its price last Friday at $3.84 per pound.

On the LME, the copper 3-month price showed little movement last Friday, hovering around $6,926 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the primary copper cash price remained essentially flat at $6,921 per metric ton.
