Global Precious Metals MMI®: Japanese Palladium Bar Rises 7.6% for the Week

The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI® was the price of Japanese palladium bar, which saw a 7.6 percent increase to JPY 2,183 ($21.52) per gram. This comes on the heels of a 6.0 percent decline the week prior. The price of Chinese palladium bar rose 3.7 percent to CNY 152.50 ($24.84) per gram after falling 2.0 percent during the previous week. The price of US palladium bar rose 3.3 percent to $681.00 per ounce after falling 2.2 percent during the previous week.

The price of Japanese platinum bar rose 4.5 percent to JPY 4,359 ($42.96) per gram after falling 3.4 percent during the previous week. The price of US platinum bar fell 1.2 percent over the past week to $1,323 per ounce. This was the fourth week in a row of declining prices. The price of Chinese platinum bar fell 0.4 percent over the past week to CNY 281.00 ($45.78) per gram. This was the fourth week in a row of declining prices.

The price of Japanese gold bullion rose 3.6 percent to JPY 3,969 ($39.12) per gram after falling 5.8 percent during the previous week. The price of Indian gold bullion rose 2.1 percent to INR 26,550 ($440.76) per 10 grams after falling 3.2 percent during the previous week. The price of US gold bullion fell 0.9 percent over the past week to $1,224 per ounce. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. The price of Chinese gold bullion rose 0.1 percent to CNY 249.30 ($40.61) per gram after falling 4.7 percent during the previous week.

The price of Chinese silver fell 4.3 percent over the past week to CNY 3,765 ($613.33) per kilogram. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. The price of Japanese silver rose 3.9 percent to JPY 613.00 ($6.04) per 10 grams after falling 3.8 percent during the previous week. The price of US silver fell 3.9 percent over the past week to $18.90 per ounce. This was the third week in a row of declining prices. The price of Indian silver rose 2.3 percent to INR 41,636 ($691.20) per kilogram after falling 0.7 percent during the previous week.
