Lynas Says No to On-Site Waste Disposal, China REE Prices Quiet

Australia-based Lynas Corp. disputes a Chinese report saying it will house a permanent disposal facility on the site of its Malaysian plant.

“Sin Chew Daily had reported Dr Abu Bakar [of the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry] as saying that the PDF must be located at the plant to avoid accidents in the transfer of waste materials. He was reported to have said that it was a regulation set by the Government that the waste would not be transferred to and disposed off [sic] in other states,” according to this article.

Of course, the Chinese know a thing or two about pollution related to rare earths mining.
