3-Month Price of Aluminum Sees Small Jump

The aluminum 3-month price saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 1.3 percent on the LME to close at $1,841 per metric ton on Tuesday, July 23. On the LME, the primary aluminum cash price gained 1.2 percent to finish at $1,794 per metric ton. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum increased 0.8 percent to INR 107.50 ($1.80) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices closed flat for the day. The cash price of Chinese aluminum steadied at CNY 14,400 ($2,344) per metric ton following two-days of increases. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap was unchanged at CNY 12,080 ($1,966) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese aluminum billet remained essentially flat at CNY 14,350 ($2,336) per metric ton. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese aluminum bar held flat at CNY 14,050 ($2,287) per metric ton.
