Base Metals Price Roundup: China Aluminum Up, Japan Copper Down

Following a three-day flat streak, the price of Chinese aluminum bar climbed by 1.1 percent on Tuesday, August 6.

After two changeless days, the cash price of Chinese aluminum fell 0.2 percent. The price of Chinese aluminum billet saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap saw little movement.

The cash price of primary Indian aluminum rose 1.0 percent after a two-day drop. On the LME, the aluminum 3-month price declined 0.9 percent to $1,801 per metric ton. On the LME, the primary aluminum cash price fell 0.8 percent to $1,755 per metric ton.

Today’s Copper Prices

Following two days of increases on the LME, the cash price of primary copper dropped by 1.0 percent to end at $6,950 per metric ton on Tuesday, August 6. Weakening prices followed two days of improvement as the copper 3-month price dropped 0.9 percent on the LME to $6,965 per metric ton.

After improving for two days, the cash price of primary Japanese copper declined 0.4 percent. The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little change in its price on Tuesday. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw little price change yesterday. The price of US copper producer grade 110 held steady.

The price of Chinese copper bar remained steady. The Chinese copper cash price showed little movement yesterday. The price of Chinese copper wire ended a two-day climb. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap held steady.
