Alcoa Inc Combines Scrap Purchasing, Packaging Groups; Prices Quiet

Alcoa, in keeping up its reputation as a trailblazer in the aluminum recycling world, created a new entity for recycling.

The aluminum producer will “combine its group charged with recycling aluminum in the packaging market, Evermore Recycling, with its aluminum scrap purchasing group which recycles aluminum used in other markets such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial into a single organization — ‘Alcoa Recycling‘ – to further increase the amount of aluminum that is converted back into new products.”

Dropping 1.4 percent, the Indian aluminum cash price was the biggest mover on Wednesday, September 4.

Following a 0.5 percent rise on Wednesday, the cash price of primary aluminum closed on the LME at $1,773 per metric ton. The 3-month price of aluminum rose 0.3 percent on the LME to $1,819 per metric ton after a two-day drop.

Chinese aluminum prices were flat for the day. The Chinese aluminum cash price showed little movement yesterday. Chinese aluminum scrap saw little change in its price on Wednesday. Chinese aluminum billet stayed flat. The price of Chinese aluminum bar remained essentially flat.
