Alcoa is in search of a buyer for its sole plant in France and two production sites in Spain, the head of the French facility said Monday (AFP).
“Alcoa has decided to put up for sale its factory in France and two plants in Spain,” the director of the plant in the southern French town of Castelsarrasin, Franck Listuzzi, told AFP, confirming a report in a local newspaper.
“The three plants are interlinked and constitute a single system,” he added.
At $1,831 per metric ton, the aluminum 3-month price moved up 2.6 percent on Friday, September 20, making it the day’s biggest mover on the LME. After a 2.4 percent increase, the primary aluminum cash price finished the day on the LME at $1,784 per metric ton. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum finished the market day up 0.1 percent per kilogram.
Chinese aluminum prices were flat for the day. Chinese aluminum scrap stayed flat. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese aluminum billet held flat. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row. The Chinese aluminum cash price saw little price change last Friday.
