Japanese Copper Cash Price Sees Small Price Drop

With a decline of 1.5 percent to JPY 735,000 ($7,466) per metric ton on Thursday, September 26, the Japanese copper cash price recorded the biggest decline of the day. The price of US copper producer grade 110 is back up, rising by 0.5 percent on Thursday to close at $3.95 per pound. Following a two-day drop, the price of US copper producer grade 122 increased by 0.5 percent to $3.95 per pound. After falling for two days, the price of US copper producer grade 102 rose 0.5 percent to $4.14 per pound.

Chinese copper prices were mixed for the day. At CNY 53,040 ($8,664) per metric ton, Chinese copper bar fell 0.2 percent on Thursday. The cash price of Chinese copper fell 0.2 percent to CNY 53,240 ($8,697) per metric ton. Chinese copper wire saw little change in its price on Thursday at CNY 52,260 ($8,537) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 42,830 ($6,996) per metric ton.

Following a 0.2 percent rise on Thursday, the copper 3-month price closed on the LME at $7,188 per metric ton. The primary copper cash price rose 0.2 percent on the LME to $7,155 per metric ton after a two-day drop.
