Change is upon us… “Cliffs Natural Resources Inc., the biggest U.S. iron-ore producer, hired Gary Halverson from Barrick Gold Corp. to be its next chief executive officer,” reports Reuters.
“Halverson, 55, formerly interim chief operating officer at Barrick, will start Nov. 18 as president and chief operating officer before eventually assuming the CEO role, Cleveland-based Cliffs said today in a statement. Cliffs CEO Joseph Carrabba, who announced his retirement in July, will leave Nov. 15.”
Indian gold bullion prices fell 5.3 percent. After improving for two days, the price of Chinese gold bullion declined 0.4 percent. Japanese gold bullion finished the day up 0.3 percent.
Indian silver finished the market day up 3.6 percent. After a 1.5 percent increase, Japanese silver finished the day. Chinese silver fell 0.4 percent on Thursday.
Chinese platinum bar prices saw a 1.3 percent decline. Japanese platinum bar closed 0.1 percent lower.
Chinese palladium bar finished the day down 0.6 percent. The price of Japanese palladium bar was essentially unchanged.
