Global Precious Metals MMI®: US Silver Falls 3.2% for the Week

The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Global Precious Metals MMI® was the price of US silver, which saw a 3.2 percent decline to $21.86 per ounce. This comes on the heels of a 2.9 percent increase the week before. The price of Chinese silver fell 3.0 percent to CNY 4,375 ($717.69) per kilogram after rising 2.4 percent the week before. Following a 2.2 percent increase in the week prior, the price of Indian silver fell 2.2 percent last week to INR 50,078 ($804.72) per kilogram. The price of Japanese silver fell 1.4 percent to JPY 688.00 ($7.00) per 10 grams after rising 3.6 percent the week before.

Following a 2.7 percent increase in the week prior, the price of US gold bullion fell 2.7 percent last week to $1,316 per ounce. The price of Chinese gold bullion fell 2.2 percent to CNY 258.60 ($42.42) per gram after rising 1.8 percent the week before. Following a 2.4 percent increase in the week prior, the price of Indian gold bullion fell 2.1 percent last week to INR 29,743 ($477.95) per 10 grams. The price of Japanese gold bullion fell 0.3 percent to JPY 4,179 ($42.50) per gram after rising 0.8 percent the week before.

The price of Japanese platinum bar rose 1.6 percent to JPY 4,606 ($46.84) per gram after falling 0.6 percent during the previous week. Closing out the third week of rising prices, the price of Chinese platinum bar increased by 0.3 percent, landing at CNY 304.00 ($49.87) per gram. At $1,452 per ounce, the price of US platinum bar did not change since the previous week.

After a 0.6 percent decline, Chinese palladium bar closed out the week at CNY 163.00 ($26.74) per gram. Following a 0.4 percent increase in the week prior, the price of US palladium bar fell 0.5 percent last week to $738.00 per ounce. The price of Japanese palladium bar fell 0.2 percent to JPY 2,351 ($23.91) per gram after rising 2.7 percent the week before.
