The price of US copper producer grade 122 rose 1.8 percent to $3.97 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 inched up 1.7 percent to $4.16 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price weakened by 0.5 percent, settling at JPY 747,000 ($7,294) per metric ton.
Chinese copper closed mixed on Thursday. Chinese copper wire finished the day up 0.8 percent to CNY 51,010 ($8,374) per metric ton. Chinese copper bar saw its price rise 0.8 percent to CNY 51,820 ($8,507) per metric ton. The Chinese copper cash price rose 0.8 percent to CNY 52,020 ($8,540) per metric ton. Chinese bright copper scrap stayed flat at around CNY 44,600 ($7,322) per metric ton.
Following a 0.4 percent rise yesterday, the primary copper cash price closed on the LME at $6,975 per metric ton. Following a two-day drop, the copper 3-month price increased by 0.4 percent on the LME to $6,975 per metric ton.
