Cash Price of Aluminum Rises 0.8%

The aluminum cash price saw the biggest upwards shift for the day, rising 0.8 percent on the LME to close at $1,762 per metric ton on Wednesday, December 11. After a 0.7 percent increase, the 3-month price of aluminum finished the day on the LME at $1,807 per metric ton. The cash price of primary Indian aluminum gained 0.4 percent to finish at INR 110.20 ($1.81) per kilogram.

Chinese aluminum prices were mixed for the day. The Chinese aluminum cash price rose 0.3 percent to CNY 14,340 ($2,362) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap was unchanged at CNY 12,200 ($2,010) per metric ton. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese aluminum billet remained essentially flat at CNY 14,200 ($2,339) per metric ton. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese aluminum bar held flat at CNY 14,200 ($2,339) per metric ton.
