Steel Price Round-Up: Chinese Slab Climbs Out of Flat Spell

On Thursday, December 12, the day’s biggest mover was the price of Chinese slab, which saw a 1.1 percent increase. This increase comes after two straight days of stagnant prices. The price of Chinese HRC remained steady. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese coking coal held flat. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India was range bound.

Also on the LME, the cash price of steel billet saw little change in its price on Thursday at $260.00 per metric ton. On the LME, the steel billet 3-month price remained essentially flat at $260.00 per metric ton.

The US HRC futures contract 3-month price saw little price change on Thursday at $645.00 per short ton. The US HRC futures contract spot price was unchanged at $676.00 per short ton.
