Cash Price of Japanese Copper Sees Small Jump

Rising 0.8 percent to close at JPY 793,000 ($7,603) per metric ton, the cash price of Japanese copper experienced the biggest change for Friday, December 20. The price of US copper producer grade 110 declined 0.5 percent to $4.04 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 122 weakened by 0.5 percent, settling at $4.04 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 saw a 0.5 percent decline to $4.23 per pound.

Chinese copper closed mixed last Friday. Following a two-day drop, the price of Chinese copper bar increased by 0.2 percent to CNY 52,050 ($8,573) per metric ton. After falling for two days, the Chinese copper cash price rose 0.2 percent to CNY 52,250 ($8,606) per metric ton. The price of Chinese copper wire held steady at CNY 51,175 ($8,429) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap continues hovering around CNY 44,600 ($7,346) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row.

On the LME, the copper 3-month price fell 0.1 percent to $7,217 per metric ton. The primary copper cash price weakened by 0.1 percent on the LME, settling at $7,218 per metric ton.
