On Monday, December 23, the day’s biggest mover was the copper cash price, which saw a 0.6 percent increase on the LME to $7,264 per metric ton. This increase comes after the price fell for the two previous days. After falling for two days, the copper 3-month price rose 0.4 percent on the LME to $7,243 per metric ton.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw little movement on Monday, closing out around $4.04 per pound. The Japanese copper cash price remained essentially flat at JPY 793,000 ($7,622) per metric ton. The price of US copper producer grade 102 held steady around $4.23 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 remained essentially flat at $4.04 per pound.

Chinese copper prices were mixed for the day. The price of Chinese copper bar increased 0.5 percent to CNY 52,300 ($8,614) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese copper gained 0.5 percent to finish at CNY 52,500 ($8,647) per metric ton. For the fifth consecutive day, the price of Chinese copper wire held flat at CNY 51,175 ($8,429) per metric ton. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row, remaining around CNY 44,600 ($7,346) per metric ton.
