Chinese Copper Wire Shifts 0.5%

On Friday, January 3, the day’s biggest mover was Chinese copper wire, which saw a 0.5 percent increase to CNY 52,475 ($8,672) per metric ton. Chinese copper bar finished the day down 0.5 percent to CNY 53,020 ($8,762) per metric ton. The cash price of Chinese copper weakened by 0.4 percent, settling at CNY 53,220 ($8,795) per metric ton. At CNY 43,470 ($7,184) per metric ton, the price of Chinese bright copper scrap was essentially unchanged.

The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw a 0.2 percent decline to $4.13 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 110 fell 0.2 percent to $4.13 per pound. The price of US copper producer grade 102 declined 0.2 percent to $4.32 per pound. The cash price of primary Japanese copper saw little movement at JPY 795,000 ($7,582) per metric ton.

The copper 3-month price showed little movement last Friday on the LME at $7,370 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the cash price of primary copper remained essentially flat at $7,394 per metric ton.
