Japanese Copper Drops After Short Rise; LME Primary Copper Up

On Monday, January 20, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of Japanese copper, which saw a 0.9 percent decline. The price of US copper producer grade 110 fell 0.5 percent. The price of US copper producer grade 122 saw a 0.5 percent decline. The price of US copper producer grade 102 weakened by 0.5 percent.

Chinese copper prices were mixed for the day. Chinese copper bar gained 0.1 percent to finish. The Chinese copper cash price rose 0.1 percent. The price of Chinese copper wire held steady. The price of Chinese bright copper scrap remained steady.

On the LME, the cash price of primary copper increased 0.5 percent to $7,379 per metric ton. Also on the LME, the copper 3-month price rose 0.2 percent to $7,340 per metric ton.
