ThyssenKrupp Negotiates with Saab for Swedish Shipyards

Germany’s ThyssenKrupp said Monday it is in talks with Saab over the sale of its Swedish shipyards business. The yars, formerly known as Kockums, employ about 900 people and the aim of the talks was to safeguard those jobs and retain activities in Sweden, ThyssenKrupp said.

The price of Chinese HRC fell 0.3 percent on Friday, April 11 to CNY 3,400 ($547.26) per metric ton, making it the day’s biggest mover. The price of Chinese coking coal remained essentially flat at CNY 1,390 ($223.73) per metric ton. The price of Chinese slab continues hovering around CNY 3,480 ($560.14) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India hit a high price of CNY 840.00 ($135.21) and a low price of CNY 830.00 ($133.60) per dry metric ton.

The steel billet cash price saw little movement on the LME at $390.00 per metric ton. On the LME, the steel billet 3-month price held steady around $400.00 per metric ton.

The 3-month price of the US HRC futures contract saw little movement last Friday, closing out around $648.00 per short ton. The US HRC futures contract spot price showed little movement last Friday at $653.00 per short ton.
