Ford’s 2015 F-150 has more technology patents than any Ford truck ever. Reflecting the innovation necessary to switch to an all-aluminum body, the truck will weigh about 700 pounds less than the 2014 model it replaces, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Better fuel efficiency, one result of the aluminum body, will go a long way in helping Ford meet tougher government corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards.

The new truck has more than 100 new patents approved or pending for technologies ranging from heat treating the aluminum alloy to a remote-controlled tailgate release.

On Monday, May 26, the day’s biggest mover was the cash price of primary aluminum, which saw a 2.1 percent increase on the LME to $1,781 per metric ton. On the LME, the aluminum 3-month price inched up 1.8 percent to $1,818 per metric ton. At INR 107.20 ($1.83), the Indian aluminum cash price finished the market day up 1.4 percent per kilogram.
