Ford Motor Co. May Use Aluminum Body on Super Duty Pickup Truck

Ford may use an aluminum body on its new Super Duty pickup, similar to what it is doing with the smaller 2015 F-150, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Although the company won’t comment on that possibility, it has said it plans to use aluminum extensively in other vehicles.

Last week, a spy photographer for KGP Photography was shooting a prototype of the F-350 Super Duty at a testing area in Colorado and was able to get close enough to place a magnet on the truck’s bed, according to Automotive News.

The Indian aluminum cash price rose 1.2 percent on Wednesday, June 25, making it the day’s biggest mover. After two days of falling prices, it closed at INR 114.75 ($1.91) per kilogram. On the LME, the cash price of primary aluminum showed little movement yesterday, hovering around $1,858 per metric ton. The aluminum 3-month price remained essentially flat on the LME at $1,896 per metric ton.

Chinese aluminum closed mixed on Wednesday. The cash price of Chinese aluminum fell 0.2 percent to CNY 13,300 ($2,134) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum scrap held steady at CNY 12,250 ($1,966) per metric ton. The price of Chinese aluminum billet continues hovering around CNY 13,590 ($2,181) per metric ton for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese aluminum bar saw little movement at CNY 14,200 ($2,279) per metric ton.
