Chinese Silver Drops 2.0% After Short Rise

On Thursday, May 23, the day’s biggest mover was the price of Chinese silver, which saw a 2.0 percent decline to CNY 4,450 ($725.42) per kilogram. At JPY 734.00 ($7.11) per 10 grams, Japanese silver fell 0.8 percent on Thursday. US silver finished the day down 0.7 percent to $22.27 per ounce. Following two days of rising prices, the price of Indian silver dropped 0.2 percent to INR 43,542 ($782.28) per kilogram.

Japanese gold bullion ended the day at JPY 4,499 ($43.60) per gram, after the 1.2 percent drop yesterday. The price of Chinese gold bullion declined 0.8 percent to CNY 278.90 ($45.47) per gram. The price of US gold bullion fell 0.5 percent to $1,370 per ounce. Indian gold bullion prices rose 0.2 percent to INR 26,481 ($475.76) per 10 grams.

Japanese platinum bar prices saw a 1.6 percent decline to JPY 4,780 ($46.32) per gram. Chinese platinum bar closed 1.3 percent lower at CNY 306.00 ($49.88) per gram. After a 0.3 percent increase, US platinum bar finished the day at $1,465 per ounce.

The price of US palladium bar declined 0.1 percent to $744.00 per ounce. The price of Japanese palladium bar held steady at JPY 2,460 ($23.84) per gram. Following a two-day rise, the price of Chinese palladium bar flattened at CNY 169.00 ($27.55).
